This place is a long Island treasure. Tucked away in Polish town in Riverhead New York. The food is amazing and the atmosphere is perfect for all occasions. The sampler dish I ordered had perogies and smokey pork chop and an assortment of other delights perfectly cooked and in ample portion size to have me taking food home to enjoy later. The bar was friendly and relaxed. The staff is friendly and attentive. This place deserves to be reviewed by serious critics with my higher qualifications than myself.

What a great place to go to get some of the dishes we remember from our childhood: pierogies, golumpki, kielbasa and potato pancakes. And they were all delicious. A cozy place with super friendly service - a real gem in Riverhead.

We went to Easter Brunch and loved it! It was festive, great service, and great food! As far as a Holiday Brunch it was priced right. Thank you for being part of our Easter celebration.

Good, old world food. I haven't been to Polish town in years and it was fun and comforting to come back. The staff was so friendly. The food was comfort food. Onion rings, kielbasa, pierogi's and veggies. Had a beer on tap. Go see them and feel the past come back to life.

This is a cozy restaurant with excellent food. I visited once so far. Seated at the bar where I dined, I met and conversed with some regular patrons as well as the lovely lady who served me. She conducted herself with both professionalism and a large measure of kindness
I suspect she owns the place.
The first-time visit was so pleasant I wish to make this my regular "Cheers Bar"...in other words: "tavern" in the European sense sans rooms for rent. It is not an inn, but oh what a fantastic inn it would be for travelers if there were rooms upstairs to rent!

My imagination just went off on a tangent. Forgive my meanderings.

Love the food. Love the staff and patrons met. This place is a gem in a quiet part of Riverhead and close walking distance to the train and buses.

This was my first time here. Old Timmy kind of place but nice and neat. Really wanted to try a Polish restaurant since I’ve never been. Wife had the meatloaf platter and since I couldn’t decide I opted for the combo. Both dinners were terrific. Planning on making another trip out east just as an excuse to come back…

I had the marinated pork chops with garlic mashed potatoes and veggies.
This has been the best pork chops meal I ever had. Also came with a fresh salad. Will be going back and also spreading the word how delicious it is.

The food was delicious, but Amanda was the icing on the cake.
My husband had the sauerbraten and said it's the best he had. I had the stuffed flounder and can't wait to have it again.
We had the rice pudding and bread pudding for dessert. Delicious!
We can't express enough how delightful our server was. We with her the best going back to school.

My family of six went last night and the food was so delicious,
Portions were a very large. I had the sauerbraten, that came with potato pancakes and red cabbage, it was so yummy. I’m looking forward to my leftovers tonight. I will be going back often.

Having severe food allergies can be daunting when trying to est out. At the Birchwood, they can be accomdating, just explain what is what and how it needs to be prepared, so they can relay to the Chef. It's also helpful to have it written down on a card to give to your server who'll share it with Chef. With Alpha-Gal, that leaves poultry and seafood. I enjoyed a lovely roasted half duck sans sauce, baked potato, steamed broccoli, carrots and cauliflower. Highly recommend!

Went for Mother's Day strict on reservations and seating is hour and half which is enough time to eat and relax. Excellent attentive staff, food Excellent tons of variety and lots of desserts. Lines moved swiftly, staff serves hot food from warmers. Decorated beautifully for the day.

What can you say. This is old school Polish Town - Riverhead, NY.

It’s been around for decades. Staff is super friendly and welcoming.

I had the kielbasa and sauerkraut on rye with polish mustard. Really just awesome and reminds me of growing up on the North Fork of Long Island, where most people were descendants of Poland and Ireland. Mostly farming.

You should check it out if you’re in the neighborhood. You can always go to Applebees or another chain anytime anywhere.

Try it. I think you’ll like it.

Service was great, from the moment we stepped in to the minute we got up to leave. Space was well prepared for covid restrictions also bright and clean.

They have a very extensive menu but we opted for their specials... They had very unique dish that I've only had homemade... Meatballs in this rich thick ginger snap silesian sauce... It's a regional delicacy eaten in the Eastern parts of Germany (Silesia) that became part of Poland after 1945.

Sadly this dish did not compare and I was sooo hoping it would :/. However everything else we tried was delicious, their pierogi's were phenomenal as well as the creamy creme brulee. We will definitely give this place another try and be back to try more things on their regular menu.
